Class activity: “Round-table Discussion ~Differences in Culture and Customs~”

We held "Roundtable Discussion" activities within the M1 and M2 classes. The theme was about differences in culture and customs. Classes were divided into groups of several students to discuss about the topic and gave their own opinions. It is quite difficult to express thoughts of ourselves in Japanese, but everyone was able to speak freely. Even though there were differences of opinions, we were able to understand each other, and new perspectives were born, and it was a good round-table discussion. This experience will surely be our nutrition. Let's continue to train to express ourselves in Japanese!

We had group work at classes M1, M2 last week. The topic on the day was “Let’s make an easy-to-know tour guide poster!”. All of students had fun time of using Japanese to enjoy the activity. Posters were then completed beautifully with full of colors and personal characteristics. At the end of the day, each group presented their guide which helped others to learn more about various sightseeing spots. We really want to go there when the pandemic subsides!

Experiential learning at Ikebukuro Bosaikan

Our school held experiential learning activities at Ikebukuro disaster prevention Museum (Ikebukuro bosaikan) on 3 days, from 8/23(Tuesday)~8/25(Thursday). Through experiencing earthquakes, smoke, and firefighting, students learned what to prepare for and what should do in the event of a disaster. We were also able to learn about the history of disasters in Japan, and that was a meaningful time. Here are some examples of student voice: "I learned important things for my living in Japan where there are many earthquakes!" or "I will make use of what I have learned today in the event of a disaster". It was a valuable experience for the students who have no experience with earthquakes or fires!
