Tokyo International Exchange College Ikebukuro held a special cultural lesson on the 11th of December, giving students an opportunity to an anime drawing lecture. Kimiharu Obata, a very well experienced instructor from AMPS International Anime School, taught students how to draw the faces of different anime characters. Students gave their biggest applause every time Mr. Obata drew a well-known anime character from some of the shows students are familiar with, such as Detective Conan, Sailor moon, Crayon Shin Chan and more. A new class has started on the 7th of December at Tokyo International Exchange College Ikebukuro! In order to help relief some of the stress from entering Japan during this hard time under a pandemic, us staffs and teachers had gave our best to support them throughout. Moreover, to make sure our students are able to at least learn some Japanese during their time isolating, TIEC Ikebukuro created multiple opportunities to communicate with them through assigning homework, making ZOOM online meetings and such. With careful measures taken to prevent COVID-19, Tokyo International Exchange College Ikebukuro took a fieldtrip to “Rikugien” , a well-known Japanese garden, and “Sugamo Jizo-dori Shopping Street” , a traditional Japanese downtown area on the 6th and the 9th of November. Though the leaves haven’t turned completely red and yellow, students still had the chance to take a glimpse into the beaty of Japanese autumn foliage. Tokyo International Exchange College Ikebukuro

The MEXT(Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology ) has announced a special student supporting fund for students who are not able to continue their studies in school. This fund will not be eligible to all students. Zhao passed JLPT N1 soon after he enrolled in TIEC Ikebukuro. With his through preparation and a high score in TOEIC, he got accepted by Keio University, a school considered to be one of the most difficult universities to enter even for Japanese students. Zhao is an approved Otaku that wouldn’t even give up watching anime on the day before the entrance exam, however, this was also his method of mastering the language, combining his language ability and his adorable personality trade, he was for sure one of the most charming students in class. 「Classes at TIEC Ikebukuro were incredibly fun, Ms. Dobashi had provided much support helping me out with my interview and application, I wouldn’t have been able do accomplish such success without her help.
