「Though I have been studying really hard after entering Japanese language school, due to the pandemic, a lot of things didn’t go as planned. Following the state of emergency declared by the Japanese government, classes at Tokyo International Exchange College Ikebukuro will be taken place online starting from the 12th of January. In the meantime, office will be opened from 10am to 4pm on the weekdays. Students are more than welcome to contact us at anytime for any help in need. In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, please make sure you wash your hands and gargled well, always put on a face make when leaving the house and try to stay at home if possible. On the 17th of Dec, Tokyo International Exchange College Ikebukuro was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation from the toshima environmental activity promotion organization by Miyuki Takagiwa, the vice mayor of Toshima district. This certificate is presented to those who held great distribution to the area through acts of environment beautification. Tokyo International Exchange College Ikebukuro held a special cultural lesson on the 11th of December, giving students an opportunity to an anime drawing lecture. Kimiharu Obata, a very well experienced instructor from AMPS International Anime School, taught students how to draw the faces of different anime characters. Students gave their biggest applause every time Mr. Obata drew a well-known anime character from some of the shows students are familiar with, such as Detective Conan, Sailor moon, Crayon Shin Chan and more. A new class has started on the 7th of December at Tokyo International Exchange College Ikebukuro! In order to help relief some of the stress from entering Japan during this hard time under a pandemic, us staffs and teachers had gave our best to support them throughout. Moreover, to make sure our students are able to at least learn some Japanese during their time isolating, TIEC Ikebukuro created multiple opportunities to communicate with them through assigning homework, making ZOOM online meetings and such. With careful measures taken to prevent COVID-19, Tokyo International Exchange College Ikebukuro took a fieldtrip to “Rikugien” , a well-known Japanese garden, and “Sugamo Jizo-dori Shopping Street” , a traditional Japanese downtown area on the 6th and the 9th of November. The MEXT(Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology ) has announced a special student supporting fund for students who are not able to continue their studies in school. This fund will not be eligible to all students.
